The Interview: How did Kim Jong-un assassination plot film do at UK box office?

The Hollywood movie about a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un took £283,000 at the box office in its first week.
The Interview, starring Seth Rogen and James Franco, had its US release cancelled late last year following a hacking plot of the Sony Pictures studio in which terror threats were made against cinemas planning to screen it.
Figures from the British Film Institute show it took £283,811 in ticket sales at 287 cinemas across the UK in its first week.
 
t was the 10th highest-grossing film of the week with Disney’s Big Hero 6 topping the chart, taking more than £2.5 million.
The film was at the centre of an international controversy after the FBI insisted the online attack was carried out by North Korea and, after much political and celebrity pressure, the film was eventually shown online and in a limited number of cinemas.
The hack resulted in thousands of internal Sony files leaked online eventually leading to Amy Pascal stepping down as co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and head of the film studio.
The hack revealed she had made racist comments about President Obama’s movie preferences, after which she apologised for the “insensitive and inappropriate” comments.
