After so
much pressure from PDP chieftains asking him to step down, embattled National
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, on Wednesday resigned
from his position.
In a
letter he wrote to the Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, Muazu,
noted that due to the abysmal performance of the party in the 2015 general
elections, it became imperative for him to leave and for peace to reign in the
PDP.
In the
letter, he asked Secondus to step in as acting National Chairman in line with
the party’s constitution.
As at the
time of this report, the leadership of the party is holding a National Working Committee,
NWC meeting on the former chairman’s resignation.
