NDLEA Officials Are In Kashamu’s Bedroom And He Has Been Locked Up In His Bathroom – Lawyer

Counsel to embattled Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu, Ajibola Oluyede (S.A.N) has accused the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of flouting the court order restraining them from arresting Kashamu.

Oluyede who was speaking on Channels Television breakfast show, Sunrise Daily, also accused the agency of using 20 armed men to barricade Kashamu’s house all in a bid to arrest him.

He noted that Kashamu has been locked up in his bathroom since the NDLEA officials forcefully took over his abode on Friday and he has been speaking to him through the bathroom door.

According to the senior lawyer, ” Up till this moment, NDLEA has not produced a valid warrant from the US. The indictment from the US is merely a suspicion which needs to be proved through a court trial”.

Reacting to Oluyede’s accusations, the spokesperson of the NDLEA, Mitchel Ofoyeju who called in to the show, insisted that the agency has a valid arrest warrant to arrest Kashamu.

He also affirmed that the management of the agency has no problem accepting the court order but went on to say there are windows of opportunity to appeal the case.

When he was put on the spot by one of the anchors of the programme, Chamberlain Asoh, who asked him a direct question (Yes or No), if it was right for the armed men to be in Kashamu’s residence? Ofoyeju hesitated for a while and then answered in the affirmative.

A high court presided by  Justice Ibrahim Buba had ordered the NDLEA to immediately vacate Kashamu’s residence but the agency rejected the order.
