Ohaneze Youths Urge Buhari To Stop Moves Against Ike Ekweremadu

EkweremaduMOVES against Ike Ekweremadu’s election as Deputy President of the Senate are serious threats to the fragile peace in the polity and an attack on Ndigbo, the Ohanaeze Youth Wing (OYW) has said.
The group told newsmen on Tuesday that the continued attack on Ekweremadu and provocation of Ndigbo were undeserved and unacceptable.

Apparently referring to the Deputy Senate President’s invitation by the Police High Command, OYW President, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, advised the Inspector General Police, Solomon Arase, “to reject being used in this cheap battle against Ndigbo over some spurious forgery allegations.”
Alleging that the plot was being orchestrated by the All Progressives Congress national leader, Bola Tinubu, and asking him to retrace his steps, OYW said that any attempt to snatch that divine mandate from Ekweremadu would be treated as a ploy to eliminate Ndigbo from Nigerian political equation.
According to Isiguzoro, “the OYM is aware that President Muhammadu Buhari is under intense pressure to endorse the ‘Ekweremadu Must Go’ plot. This, therefore, is the time to prove that he belongs to nobody (Tinubu inclusive) but to everybody (Ndigbo inclusive).
“We urge President Buhari to call Tinubu to order to avoid further actions that may overheat the polity and destabilise his government. Abiding by his word not to interfere in the internal politics of the National Assembly will make him regain the confidence of Ndigbo and other Nigerians who may have any misgivings about his good intentions.”
Meanwhile, in view of his contributions to the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as the party’s subsequent victory, a group known as the Mass Movement for Buhari 2015 has recommended that Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu be appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Making the recommendation shortly after a prayer summit at the Ohaozara hometown of the former governor of Abia State and chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the group told journalists that it was seeking divine intervention over the contentious issues surrounding the SGF’s appointment.
