Aston Villa are close to finalizing a deal to bring Dimitar Berbatov back to the Premier League.The Bulgarian striker is a free agent after leaving Monaco in June, so the deal does not have to be completed before today’s 6pm deadline.
But Villa sources claim boss Tim Sherwood is confident that the former Manchester United striker will join the Midlands club this week.
Sherwood wants an experienced Premier League frontman and had also been attempting to sign Emmanuel Adebayor from Tottenham.
But Adebayor is set for West Ham, with the final year of his Spurs contract likely to be paid up, and Villa are now lose to tying up a move for the 34-year-old Berbatov.
